The L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science International Awards are presented every year to five outstanding women scientists – one per each of the following regions: Africa and the Arab States, Asia and the Pacific, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, North America – in recognition of their scientific accomplishments.
Those who can nominate are: Heads of University or Scientific Institutions, Members of Academies of Science, Holders of Research Chairs, full Professors, Former Laureates of the For Women in Science International Awards, at a minimum holders of a PhD in Science.; Self-nominations are not considered.; Cannot nominate immediate family members.; Teams are not eligible.
Identify as a woman.; Be recognized for her scientific excellence by the international scientific community.; Be actively involved in scientific research.; There is no age limit for the candidate.
The scientific fields considered for the awards alternate every other year between Life Sciences (even years) and Physical Sciences, Mathematics and Computer Science (odd years).
